Improved support for large models
SketchUp's rendering engine was improved to make it easier to work with big models.
With the right setup, operations like orbiting, zooming and drawing can be quicker and smoother in 7.1:

- Use 'Simple style' or 'Earth modeling' style (Window > Styles > Default Styles library).
- Disable shadows (Window > Shadows).
- Enable 'Use Anti-Aliased Textures' (Window > Model Info > Rendering).
- Disable 'Use Maximum Texture Size' (Window > Preferences > OpenGL).

Component Browser can search the 3D Warehouse for buildings located near the one you're working on, then download the ones you want directly into your model. Video

Import and Export COLLADA and KMZ files
COLLADA is a 3D file format based on open standards. Google Earth KMZ file format packages 3D models together with information about their geographic locations.

DWG/DXF import will soon not be supported on the Free version of SketchUp.
